Feb 14.  Leiut King saild for Norfolk Isle with a Surgeons mate 2 marines 3 gardiners 9 men & 6 women Convicts

Norfolk Island has Pine trees 50 or 60 feet before they branch black marld & a quantity of Pumice stone several good springs were found & the ships in East India ships may be supplied with masts & yards from this Island.

a small Island was seen in 31º 26 S. 159 E Called Ld  Howes Island  it may be seen 16 leagues & a rock 5 leagues to the southward of it maybe of it may be seen [indecipherable] the Island is full of turtle but there is no anchoring Place

a black swan appeard larger then a white one.  Land or hills are the Northward south [indecipherable] than the south northward  

saw the dung of an animal which could not be less then a horse & feeds on grass

5 Ewes & a lamb had been killd in the middle of the day near the camp probably by native dogs
