live Comfortably I have no objection to increase your Pay & Let it be a Guinea a week to take place from the Mrch. 1801. So that you will have something to Receive I shall write About this to govr King this addition to your pay will, I hope will be considered as a Testimony of my approbation of your Conduct & prevent people from finding Fault with you in Future.

I have sent by the Alexander Freighter for you a Long Box directed to the Governor for  you it Contains a Gun purchased as you decreed from Esten of Chelsea, it Cost 1.14.6.  In the box are a paper & Flints & a Punch which he has given to you.  There is also a pound of [indecipherable] powder in the magazine for you which he has also given to you and some Fish hooks from me.  In the same box are 6 Gardener Knives & Some pins for insects & some thread, in another Box put on Board by the [indecipherable] port office & marked H.E. adressed [addressed] to the Governor for you are the following Things 2 Cwt Potash Shot dust 2.3 & 4 in Bags 2 lbs of best Gunpowder.  I have sent but little powder because I think Ship Powder very nearly as good as [indecipherable] and I trust the governor will supply you with that on my account.

I have also sent you one box directed  to the Governor by the Glatton a Pocket blowpipe & I mean to send a Thermometer [indecipherable] by Mr Morens.  The astronomers Barometer cannot be made of much less than 3 feet long so that One of them could be of little use to you Even if you was aquainted with the use of it. 

We have heard nothing of your Father for some time.  I read a letter Dickson wrote to me in answer to one in which I asked if he had any thing to send to you.

I have not sent you out Blankets because I understand that a government Store is now open with you in which necessaries may be purchasd at a cheap rate.

What I most want to know is the mode of generation of the Duck bill & the Porcupine Ant Eater  & also Specimens of both animals preservd in Spirits which should be once renewd after having stood a month or two on the animal
