opinion upon many points respecting the Norfolk Island Settlers, whereby His Majesty's Service may eventually be injured.
Allow me. Sir, to offer my condolence to your self and Mrs Putland on the melancholy event which has lately taken place, in your family, and to express my sincere wishes for your safe and speedy arrival in England, when a certain triumph over your few Enemies will undoubtedly attend you, and what I trust will be a greater and more permanent Satisfaction, His Majesty's approbation of your conduct in the execution of the high commission with which he had invested you
It would give me the greatest pleasure to be honoured, with the knowledge from yourself that you are in health and that no further indignity has been offered to your person
I remain with every wish, for your welfare and sentiments of respect
My dear Sir
Your most obedient
very humble Servant
