support in my representation of the Case to my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, and that independant of my Naval Command acting up to my orders, I am according to my Civil and Military situation in which His Majesty has graciously been pleased to place me as Governor and Captain General of one of his Colonies, not to be insulted by any Naval Officer, much less by a subordinate Officer subject to my controul.
I shall not trouble you Sir with a detail of Captain Short's conduct since my last Dispatches, as I have stated it fully to the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty and have left his case to an appeal home to remove him from under my Government in which I most earnestly request your support.
The Army detained a Danish ship prior to my arrival for unlawful Commerce and there is now a great want of an Admiralty Court to examine into the intercourse carried on by many Ships which are let pass of that Nation which would most assuredly be interrupted.
