two Brother of the name of Wilkinson who come from the town of Consby [Coningsby?] in My neighbourhood in Lincolnshire they were convicted of maiming a Cow & transported for that offence I do not mean to vindicate the act but I realy do think it a venial crime when compard to Robbery Burglary & most of those which your subjects have been guilty of These young men must make their Country amends by working with you for the Public all I have to request is that if you find them as I hope they are not ill disposed & if they conduct themselves as Lads whose Morals have not been quite destroyed ought to do that you will now & then give them a cheering word & tell them that by continuing a good conduct they may sometime revisit their Country & their Friends
