Sir,

On my return from my Journey throughout the Settlements, I received this morning by the hands of W. Murphy, Midshipman of the Porpoise your Letter dated the 1st Instant I apprehend the Date is wrong as he had just received it from you And a Letter subsequent to it dated the 5th Instant which has been delivered to me by a Messenger in the Country.

I have to inform you likewise that on my setting out on my Journey, Lieutenant Tetley wrote me a Letter complaining of you and that Mr Lye about the same time came with a Complaint to the same Effect which I directed him to state in writing But would not have any conversation with him on the
