and that Lieutenant Tetley and Mr. Lye's Conduct is such as to inflame the Minds of the Officers and Ship's Company and if they are permitted to do Duty it will create a Mutiny.

I therefore with this put you in possession of the said Letter of Captain Short's, and so hereby require and direct you to proceed on board the said Ship, taking to your Assistance Captain John Houstoun and Lieutenant John Oxley of his Majesty's Ship Buffalo and enquire into the same reporting to me whether under these charges and full meaning of Captain Short's letter there is a necessity for the good of the Service that Mr. Lye should be confined a Prisoner to his Cabin and Lieutenant Tetley to the ship, taking into Consideration every circumstance to guide your Opinions, particularly our remote situation from England and the State of the Colony.
