Copy of Captn Kemps letter to Major Johnston dated Sydney October 9, 1807

Sir,

Having this morning observed a Regimental Order expressive of my being a Captain en Second and stating that I am to remain on Lieutt Colonel Patersons leave of absence untill further orders, I beg leave to enclose for your Information an extract of Lieut Colonel Patersons Official letter to His Excellency Govr Bligh respecting me, which I am persuaded to hope will explain to your satisfaction that I came up here to do my Regimental Duty at Headquarters and which I respectfully conceive I have already commenced.
