To the Commissioners of His Majesty's Navy

These are to certify that the bearers Mr Robert Brown Naturalist & Mr Ferdinand Bauer Painter of Natural history have subscribd the undertaking Respecting their Conduct on board the Investigator Referred to in a letter from the Lord Commissioners of the Admiralty to the Commissioners of the Navy dated April 15 1801, and are therefore intitled [entitled] to an advance of half a year of their respective salaries.
