Sydney he had announced his having taken the Command of the Colony, which deterred them from proceeding any farther, especially as the Civil Court, constituted by Major Johnston's Disciples, which had adjourned previous to Lieut. Colonel Foveaux's arrival, was ordered to reassemble, and which certainly indicated that he approved of the former measures.

9th  With respect to myself, I remain a Prisoner with three Centinels over me, as I have been since the 26th January; but Lieut. Colonel Foveaux has allowed the Officers of the Porpoise to call on me, altho' he has positively refused to allow of my embarking, unless on conditions of being a Prisoner, which I have reprobated, as may be seen by Letters from No6 to No12 - indeed I have refused to admit to any conditions, yet you will observe by Lieut Colonel Foveaux's Letter of the 26th Instant (No. 29) it is questioned whether I mean to leave the Colony, as if I was at full liberty so to do, whereas it is on condition of my going as a Prisoner.  The Porpoise is still under repair.

Very great fluctuation appears in the winds of the present Rulers; the Estramina is sent to Port Dalrymple, and by her I wrote to Lieut. Governor Paterson (as herewith inclosed) to use his utmost endeavours to suppress the Mutiny of
