My Dear Sir
I have been favored with your letter of the 29th of March last, within these few days & the two that came enclosed for Mrs Gough & Mrs Lumley were sent to these immediately, they both live at a distance of about 20 miles from this Garden.
Your grievous loss by the death of that excellent man Mr Dryander, I had first from Mrs Lambert a much better correspondent than her husband, who I have given up ever since you wrote me that he had retained the things for you which went in one or more packages for himself.
No part of the third vol. of our Indian plants has yet found its way to Bengal. that I can learn Dr Heming is the most anxious to see it, and now he must wait until he wait on you, as he is at the point of embarking on the Carnatic, Capt [Lauriston?], & carries all I have to send you, one chest of very choice plants forms part & as Capt [Lauriston?] is particularly fond of plants & always most attentive to
