of Latitude is made with a view to prevent any illicit Trade between Whalers and the Indian Settlements.
On looking over the Chart I cannot see by extending the Latitude to the Northd: as far as 5 Degrees North between the Longitudes of 125 & 180 East that the Whalers can get near any of the Indian Settlements, so as to occasion any Jealousy, provided that all Vessels intending to Fish to the Northd. within the above mentioned Degrees of East Longitude shall be oblig'd to proceed to such fishing Ground by the South Cape of New Holland.
If you see no impropriety in our applying to the Earl of Liverpool to get this extension of Limits granted by the East India Company and a short Bill brought into the House of Commons allowing it, Mr. Champion and myself will be much obligd if you can allow us to wait on you on the Subject.
