Draught of an Undertaking &c.

In order to prevent all misunderstanding between the Lords Commissioners for executing the Office of Lord High Admiral of the United Kingdoms & the persons employd by their Lordships as Scientific Assistants on board his Majesties Ship the Investigator, for the purpose of Exploring the Country of New Holland, Their Lordships have been pleasd to issue the following instructions & commands, to be obeyd by all persons so employd, & it is expected that every person so employd  do sign his name to the same in testimony of his acquiescence in the terms on which their Lordships are pleasd to employ him.

1st.  Their Lordships require every person employd as a Scientific Assistant on board the Investigator, to render voluntary obedience to the Commander of the ship, in all orders he shall from time to time issue, for the direction of the conduct of his Crew, or of any part thereof.

2d  Their Lordships require that all persons so employd do on all occasions conduct themselves peaceably quietly & civily to each other each readily assisting the
