to be expressed by the union of the trident with the musquet, in cases like this where an actual acquisition of Territory is made the name & the date of of the country acquired & the date of the capture made be added as is done here No. 2 the Bahamas in the last action in the West Indies which it is intended to record on this Token,the navy the navy only was employed; a Trident therefore occupies the whole stands stands alone on the coin, on each one side of it is are two figures the figure uniting 5 which added taken together signifies that 5 line of battle ships were taken or destroyed, round the edge at the top the Latitude & Longitude of the place of action are marked & at the bottom the date of the action. This seems sufficient in cases of when the fruits of the victory are a part only of the only ships taken in the actions & no further consequence ensues, the reference thus given to the annals of the times, will enable every one who wishes it to refer at once to the name of the commander & circumstances of the action, things improper to be recorded on a coin as they ought to be reserved for medals, to be struck on occasions of the most splendid & decisive victories & on such them occasions only Obverse - Britannia Vigil Reverse Ceylon - Ceylona decrita Bahamas
