Sir

For your ingenious [indecipherable] disquesition [disquisition] on the weight of the Royal George as she now lies the adhesion by which she is held to Clay under her & the powers necessary to raise her I return you thanks I had both pleasure & instruction in reading them

I find in the minutes of the Royal Society in the month of May 1757 that the weight of the Royal William was estimated by the Quantity of water she displaced at somewhat more than 1576 Tons
