the Capt consulted with the Gardiners[sic] on the subject of steering for Madagascar in order to take on fresh water they were in Latitude 27º 33S & Long. 57.15. E. it was stated that a fortnight would be spent in performing the voyage the Gardiners agreed that the water on board was very good that the Plants which had by degrees been inurd[inured] to an increasing cold would be much endangered if carried again suddenly into the warm climate of Madagascar & as suddenly brought back it was therefore judgd[sic] most expedient to continue the voyage & not touch at any port before S.t Helena
