May 1. We made an excursion which lasted the whole day & returned compleatly tired, the Soil wherever we saw it every where consisted either of swamps or light Sandy mould there were few species of trees one very large yeilding a gum much resembling sanguis draconis but every place was covered with vast quantities of grass.
