politician must have had his curiosity (at least) awakened by the late changes at home & alarms abroad, but now all attention is absorbed, & it is to be hoped all wishes united, upon one much more alarming subject.  I cannot help thinking it fortunate that Mr. Pitt & his friends had not absolutely retired, for surely the balance of wisdom in the administration was on their side, & the whole stock will be wanted now.  May Heaven help us through this distress as it did before!

     The papers I sent Mr. Dryander contained a description or two of Flora Graeca ab.t w.ch I wanted to consult him, for I was loth to intrude upon you - he found no fault in the plan.  I am sorry to find Bauer not absolutely infallible;
