April 30th 1796

Dear Sir

Some late News papers have informed me of your having received the honor of the Red Ribband; an event I much rejoice at, & altho I am last to congratulate you on that distinguished Mark of Royal favor, yet I hope you will do me the Justice to believe, I am not the less sincere in my professions of Respect & best wishes for your health.

I hope you have long e'er this, received my Letters dated January & March last; the first went Via India, & the last by Port Jackson, I therefore think it probable that you may receive my March Letter, & this at the same time. As this goes via India by the Marquis Cornwallis

As I am well acquainted with the interest you have taken in my Welfare, And that
