I really expected the mare I rode home to have died on the Road but she now is much better — My poor mare Nanny will also be deprived that pleasure which is like Balaam's Ass she would express on the occasion - I think in my most simple days I could not have acted the part of the simpleton more than when on hearing that any [writch?] would do so, such an act as to cripple that [dear?] crea ture. I suppose [Jno?] told you — realy I am more sorry than if I myself had [receiv?] the wound — & not only her but also her son — I must take a side of Mr Arrie tta's Chaise to get down on Monday — You desire me to keep your in- tentions to ourselves but first in purchasing Captn King's Furniture &c you should have made that [ba?] with him likewise for we heard all particulars two days prior to your letter from different quarters hence such things will get abroad — Doctor Douglas' servant waits & he is [lie?] to the bearer therefore close Praying that in all things begun & undertaken here on Earth you may go on & Prosper obtaining the Divine favour of the Lord in all things.
