From the roof chains support a tremendous candlebra (a present from the King of France to Mohammed Ali) & other lights hang all round it enclosed in transparent glass globes. Altogether there are 2000 electric lights. These are only lighted three times a year Christmas & Easter being two of them. I forget the other. The walls are alabaster. If a match is held round one side of a corner the illumination can be seen through to the other side. Imagine what effect 2000 lights will have. The floor is covered
