7 a.m. arrived off Taranto & dropped anchor [symbol of anchor on image] outer harbour awaiting a pilot. The H.M.T. Malwa arrived from Port Said at the same time. 9 a.m. Pratque granted the Indarra & Malwa proceeded into Inner harbour in charge of Pilots & at 11 a.m. anchored off the British Camp, we commenced disembarking 2000 troops & at 2 p.m. all troops ashore, at 9 p.m. all cargo & baggage & mails discharged. The Malwa departed for Port Said at 3 p.m. We were detained on account of being short of water.

By 2 p.m. we took in 1000 tons of Fresh water & departed for Salonika no cargo or troops empty ship. Mod. Gale prevailed & heavy rain throughout the night.

Fresh breeze, rough sea, rolling & pitching heavily as luck happens we have no troops aboard otherwise they would the majority be sea-sick. At 10.30 p.m. off C. Matapan Light & midnight Kithera Is. Greece, north of Crete the extreme southerly point on the route between Taranto & Salonika.

1 a.m. going through Anti Kithera Channel & making for Milo Is. Whilst at Taranto we heard that the troops were sent away in open trucks the weather severe winter time & that hundreds are dying through exposure & not exposed for publication, yet this mismanagement exists & the truth will out later.
