to meet my wishes, I trust they will reach you in good order. I regret exceedingly that Mr Aiton [fails?] to inform me of those that arrive or of those that perish. I am in total ignorance respecting the proportions of plants sent by me from hence for you that may be in existence, consequently the less able to know what you have, I may therefore be sending you the same thing over & over again; the new edition of the Hortus Kewensis will soon find its way to this place I hope. I have trusted too long to your [kindness?] to send me new and interesting books on Botany chiefly but must now make some other arrangement. Lambert has also forgot for the first time to send me my vol. of the transactions of the Linnean Society, so I never was more in the dark, with regards to what is going on on your side of the water than at present.
That poor unfortunate box of roots that was to have gone on the Elizabeth, must be some where about one of the Companies Warehouses, but long ere this totally useless from the length of time it has been packed.
I shall not be able to send any drawings by the first fleet having had constant work with new objects, & no time to spare to take copies, but by the second fleet those due by the loss of the Bengal will be ready to send & probably a few more.
