civilization will be still more promoted than by their stay in one island. And, as four single men continued at Otaheite, we are inclined to think that the operation will prove a public benefit. As it is certainly desirable that the men should be married, & the women are ready to go out, which they may not hereafter be, we are inclined to let them go. One of the women has attended Dr Squires & is well acquainted with Midwifery - so that should she stay at Port Jackson, it is probable that she & others will be useful there.
The Directors of the Society will therefore be much obliged, Sir, if you will have the goodness to take such steps as you see fit, to favour a passage in the Ship very shortly to sail with 100 female convicts.
