P.S. I have not been able to send any seeds of the Waratah this time, by the natives having burned the woods & the large flood that we had in the summer.  I wrote in a former letter for you to send me a small pocket Blow pipe but I am afraid that letter will miscarry, as I sent it by a ship bound to the Cape of Good Hope. That though a trifling instrument in England, may be said to be invaluable here. And it will always be my pride to improve & encourage the different arts as well as Natural philosophy. It will be a long time before mechanism draws near to perfection here.  I am apt to think that coal is common in many parts of the colony & that there is a very good prospect of this country producing some valuable articles in commerce.
