the harbour of Sheerness this morning, and is now moored at the Nore, ready for sea, and waiting their Lordships further orders.
In consequence of the the advancement of the season, I beg leave to add, that the books, charts, stationary, instruments, and articles, for presents to, and barter with, Indians, necessary to the voyage for which the Investigator has been preparing, are not yet on board, neither have the men of science joined, the astronomer excepted, whom with his servant I have borne as supernumeraries for victuals only, until their Lordships pleasure is made known ot me.
