how far the preservation of the beau vernal beauty of our trees & hedges is an Object worthy the publick concern I leave to every one to judge as he thinks fit the loss of that I conceive to be the Utmost extent of the threatnd mischief

Howsoever Pestilence or Famine may be describd  by only providence ordaind to be derivd from connected with the Sins of a nation they are not in my opinion either prognosticated or caused by a Set of miserable Hedge Caterpillers more or less of which are every year to be seen in all parts of England & probably in every warm summer too abundant  many in some part or other of it
