Two one instance may be mentiond that has very Recently taken Place   An article generaly usd in India under the name of [Aitch?] & which is there Sold at a very cheap rate was by the utmost accident observed to resemble by Foster that Principle in oak bark which its virtue for Tannery Resides   experiments were immediately made & Chemical Proof given produced that a given Quantity of this Substance containd as much of the Tannery Principle at 9 or 10 times its weight of oak bark & on enquiry it appeard probable that the Tanners in England may be supplied with the Tannery Principle by the importation of this Article from india  far cheaper than they they now purchase it from the Fellers of oak Timber a dis in which case Leather will be renered cheaper & oak Trees be Less Liable to be Felld in an immature State than they now are   When the Bark of an oak tree is worth more than half the value of the Timber it Covers in consequence of of this information being given to the Court of Directors  orders have been given for the importation of this article which is expected by the next Ships
