But suppose they have, they will not do it in the face of our Ships, therefore a few single Deep Ships should watch their motives, & not risk our Ships of the Line being crippled or disabled just at this moment. Suppose the Dutch mean to come to sea this Summer, could it not be wise of them to keep up every appearance, if by such means they could keep all our Ships here watching them, surely it would, and much more advantageous to their common cause, than if they were all in a French Port under the Direction of Mr. Buonaparte [Bonaparte].
