My Dear Sir

After some letters & a long conference between Parke & me, he has this Morn, sent me word that he is determin'd not to go to New Holland, his ostensible Reason is that he expected 12s/ a Day & 100 £ for his outfit, but when I shew'd him the Letter written by me to Mr. King, which he had previously consented to, & prov'd to him that the Quarter's allowance offer'd wou'd purchace all the Instruments of which he really stood in need of it seem'd clear that he is influenc'd by some other motive, which I have since more reason to suspect is really the case. 

At all Events as he is a Free Man we cannot
