instead of the security investment I possess, I could originate a tower of wealth almost incalculable.
I have now upwards of 22,000 Nutmeg Trees & 6,000 cloves with seed from trees in high bearing to extend our plantation without bound or limit. Coffee yields its first crop in two years from the seed & I have already large nurseries of plants, raised from the berries of trees which about 3 years ago I imported from Arabia. We live among a peaceful & virile race, liable to no revolutions, none of the calamities or expences of war can fall on us from the interior. The Natives are highly interested in the culture of the Spices, almost every Chief & every village has entreated to have a share in our labours & I have by every means encouraged their wishes.
Will you pardon me just for having been so minute. The lively interest which you have taken in the promotion of every benevolent purpose & your unremitting endeavours to ameliorate in every region of the earth, the condition of humanity, have urged me & I feel as having discharged a duty in having made these statements trusting that you will approve my efforts to tread, however humbly in the steps of one whose name is venerated as widely as it is known.
