Dear Sir,

Mr. Dundas has desired me to send you the inclosed Letter from Mr. Thornton, containing an application for some plants from the Garden at Kew, and from the Collection made by Capt Bligh.

Mr. Dundas is under some doubt what step he ought to take upon this application. It must at any rate, he conceives some time or other come to you and therefore he thinks it might as well be sent to you in the first instance; and as you have he understands frequent opportunities of conversing with His Majesty on subjects of this sort, he wishes you would be so good to learn from His Majesty how far it would be agreeable to His Majesty to comply with Mr. Thornton's request.
