Dear Sir
As the Flora Græca is now gone to press, it becomes necessary to fix upon a correct title. Mr. Platt thought it necessary, in compliance with the will, to call it Flora Græciæ but this upon my strong remonstrance he has finally given up. Enclosed is the title I have composed. It required much consideration in the wording, & Mr. Hawkins suggested a slight alteration which I have adopted (provinciis et insulis Græciæ, instead of regione aut insulis Græcis). That gentleman writes - "with regard to the title I am at a loss what to suggest, & must refer you to Sir Joseph Banks." On my sending a copy of it to Mr. Platt he answers -
"Of the title which you have framed I really am not a competent judge, but the last sentence appears exceptionable, unless
