but a very viscious Calamity occasioned by one of the Highest Flood that have occurred has obliged me to engage the Sydney to try someĀ [indecipherable] & it is by that conveyance I forward this, you will readily conceive how much I am occupied at the present moment in preparing my dispatches to go by way of India, these letters I hope you will get a sight of as they contain the detail of our present temporary scarcity.

I have all Col Patersons things safe which should have gone by the Sydney but for the destination being altered & not knowing how they could be forwarded from India I shall therefore wait the first direct conveyance.
