we all felt like knocking up. If we had been carrying packs & rifles we should have died along the road side. Some of the men were sweating so much that in parts their tunics were wet through. The natives were asking 1/- for a bottle of mineral water but I think that for every bottle sold twenty were stolen. Rickshaws abound in the town & a charge of 25 cents (4d) per half hour.
