eons. etc We also laid in some stone coffins there, and went into the barn where the Spanish Prisoners were kept in the time of the Armada. It is very dark the only places for light & Ventilation being long narrow slits for windows. The whole place seems to be built so as to be easily defended with little loop holes to fire out of. We had some Devonshire apples but I did not think much of them.

We then were taken round the gardens and hot houses which were the most Wonderful I have ever seen. Grapes 2? long Peaches etc are growing in the hot –
