Monday, 31 December 1917
Fine, with a bitterly cold wind. I took one of my guns back down to a forward position 1000 yds behind the front line before day light & stayed there all day. We fired about 300 rounds during the day. Brought it back at dusk. Well here is another year ended & peace not in sight yet. I wonder how many more diaries I will complete away from home.
