up at 3 a.m., left at 4 & marched 7½ miles with snow beating into our faces the whole way then we came on by train & reached these billets in the afternoon. These billets are very poor, consist of a big shell battered building which lets the wind in all round but still we generally manage to sleep warmly at night which is a great thing. So far
