successfull, & they had buried only three men one of a dropsy, another of a consumption & a third drowned.

Omai arrived safe & was left at Huaheine but no particulars in Captain Cooks of his reception in Captain Cookes short letter which comes by the same conveyance. he had the good fortune to leave a horse & mare a Bull & some cows and a ram & seven ewes at Otaheita.

Captain Gorrer [Gore] succeeds to the command of the Discovery, & Captain Clerke now commands the Resolution; he means to make one more attempt for a northern passage, but does not seem to have much hopes of success.
