this I believe however to be a much rarer occurrence  within than without the Tropics.
The account of the Diamond Rock off Martinique being a sharer with the Souffriere in its volcanic eruption is ascertained to be false - indeed from the general appearance of that rock I could hardly believe the report when I first met with in the papers, tho' the hills on the island of Martinique exactly opposite the Diamond rock have a decidedly volcanic exterior-

It is probable that I may be in England for a short time in a few months, & in the anticipation of such an event, shall thank you to address any queries you may have to propose to me to the care of Mr. I. Francis in Mr Fruling's Office in the Post Office, enclosing them in a note further to Mr Fruling or Mr Francis, requesting them to to forward it your letter to me, wherever I may choose to land - To secure however my receipt of any letter of enquiry you may find occasion to send  to me, I shall thank you to Transmit a duplicate by the Packet, directed to the care of I.C. Mills Esqr.  Prospect, Nevis.
I have now to request your pardon for my long & impertinent intrusion upon your time, & remain with the most sincere regard
Sir
Your very obedt .& very faithful
Humb. Servt-
William Hamilton
