found to be about 2700 yards above the level of the sea.
I am just preparing to set off this day on another expedition to Monaroa [Monaro volcano] with some expections of reaching the lower line of snow so as to be able to ascertain its height above the level of the sea with a sufficient degree of exactness.
We quit these Islands early in March, & proceed to the Northward to reasume our examinations in the Lat:56ºN. and I doubt much whither we shall be able to accomplish the object of our voyage on the coast next summer, unless the two Vessels separate and take different portions.
