We left the coast of California in the middle of December last, with much less reluctance than in our former visit; and anchored in this Bay about the middle of January, since which, I have lad a very pleasant excursion of nine days in the interior parts of Owhylee [Owyhee], where I collected the greater part of the seeds herewith sent, & on account of their being fresh gathered I trust that they will succeed, provided they meet with a ready conveyance from Botany bay. - In this excursion I ascended a Mountain called Whararei in quest of Alpine plants, - whose summit rises high above the line of wood, and its height by the Barometer observed two days successively on the tops, I found
