To Mr. Menzies

Oct 22
R.A.

Sir

You will before this comes to your hands have Learnd that I am unfortunately in the Country at this Season of the year & that have received a Letter from me of the 1st October which as I was uncertain how soon you could leave the Shannon  & as your Letter appeared to have been very long in Coming to my hands I sent to Mr Nepean requesting him to forward it to you.

I have this day written to their Lordship's of the Admiralty requesting that you may have their Leave to come with the Plants to Kew & I by the Last post write to Mr Aiton to request that he will as soon as he heard of the discovery being moved come to you on board & take measures for the Safe removal of the Plants.

I shall arrive on Town on the 3d of Novr & will if necessary come down to you on the 4th but I hope instead to have the Pleasure of meeting you at that time in Soho Square where we may talk over all our matters & make the Proper arrangement for the Removal of your Collections from the Ship.
