Sir

The bearer of this is John Allen to whom you will please give such directions as may be necessary he being a stranger and of course unacquainted with the nature of the business he has to perform.  He has brought his tools with him.

I have advanced him five Guineas which was as much as he wanted or wish to carry on the road.
