Collecting have producd some very curious Plants, particularly one of the Lobelia Tribe, with an irritable Stigma, there are two species of it, which differ in this particular from all others of the vegetable Kingdom.

Botany flourishes much & Kew Gardens have been greatly improvd since you saw them, the King has a Gardener in China who has began to send home very fine things & will I have no doubt continue to do so.

Dryander Aiton Dickson Dr. Smith Dawson Turner & Koenig all are in good preservation & desire their best wishes may be acceptable to you, Corea went to France two years ago under a slight degree of mental derangement he is still resident at Paris but does not appear to have quite recoverd.

Mr. Westhall has taken his option to leave the Ship & seek his Fortune in India, he has sent home several scetches, some of them interesting.  His finishd drawings were all spoild in the Wreck.

Pray give my best respects to Mr. Bauer. His Brother is quite well & very busy in Microscopic Drawings just at present.

Again Plants are in good Condition excenlere [?] Parcel & they lost only the uppermost  Plant I have not thought is keeping to over one Parcel
