A most excellent Dressing for Peaches & Nectarines to make them bear plenty of Fruit.

In a Journey from [indecipherable] very lately I happened to travel some part of the way with one Mr [indecipherable] of [indecipherable] when the subject of conversation between us being the gt scarcily of wall fruit the last season, he told me that in his Gardens he had had a very plentiful supply;  I set about planting Peaches & Nectarines, the people of the neighbourhood looked upon it as a vain attempt, & that indeed it for some time appeared ^so to himself;  but that now his deepening the roots of his trees with wood ashes, he never fails of a large quantity.  This discovery was made by the servants accidentally throwing a quantity of wood ashes upon the Roots.
