Dear Sir

          I am sorry I have not had an opportunity of acknowledging the Receipt of your Letter of the 21.st May last respecting the Action then intended to be brought against you & which, has, I understand from Miller, since been done - Indeed I have been anxiously expecting every Post a Copy of the Declaration in order that I might have told you what the Action was brought for, but I have not yet received it & I was very unwilling to keep my silence any longer - I am totally at a loss to account for this same Action's being brought against you instead of the Bailiff, for I am sure they cannot prove that you have been guilty either of indecency or Cruelty - However it is a great pity that there are Men to be found who for the sake of a Fee will undertake such dirty & I think I may say indecent & cruel Actions  -  I have the Honor[sic] to be
