Dear Sir,
I have received a letter from Capt. Bligh which makes me think he is inclined to accept of the offer your generous friendship has made him of the Government of New South Wales. His affection for his Family would have made him wish we could have accompanied him, but as he knows that with respect to my unfortunate self, this is impossible and how to divide us is also impossible. He seems determined to undertake this Voyage as he did all his others, (and as I believe all sailors ever will do) with the hope of return. He tells me he has enclosed a letter to you to be presented to the Admiralty if you think a temporary absence from his ship can be granted him to settle his plan with you. If he gives up his ship I fear it will not be easy to get him another as he has no Scotch interest - he is anxious to know many things which the distance he is at from you makes it imposable for him to get informed of. May I, dear Sir, beg the honor of seeing you as soon as it is convenient to you. If you indulge me with that favor I shall be able to give him some information on certain points which he is anxious about.
I am Dear Sir, with sincere regard. Your most Obedt Servant.
Elizabeth Bligh
