My Lord
the attempt which was made by Capt Bligh in his majesties ship the Bounty to convey the bread fruit tree & other usefull production from the Society Islands & other places in that part of the world to his majesties West Indian Islands in pursuance to his majesties Command signified to your Lordships by Ld Sidney in his letter of the 5th of May 1787 having faild his Majesty he thought fit that a second trial should be made & in order as much as possible to secure its success it is his Majesty's intention that two vessels shall proceed together upon this service his Majesty has therefore Commanded me to to signify to your Lordships his majesty's Pleasure that your Lordships are to give order that the vessels of a proper [clip?] may forthwith be fitted for this purpose & as soon as they shall be fit for see your Lordships are to dispatch them in execution of this service
Mr James Wiles & Mr Christopher Smith Gardiners by Profession have been engaged for the purpose of collecting such plants as maybe
