Spring Grove Sept.r 25th 1798

Sir

     I trouble you with this in Consequence of my having Yesterday receiv'd [received] very unexpectedly from the Secretary of State's Office a Letter authorizing me to offer you half a Crown a Day more than was originally intended as that the Paymen[t] offer'd is 12s..6d a Day.

     Respecting outfit I will undertake that it shall be sufficient to furnish you with all necessary Instruments and also with Arms & a sufficiency of Presents for the Natives.
